Realize recently teamed up with Project Open Hand, a volunteer-fueled charitable organization that strives to bring healthy meals to seniors, people with critical illness, and adults with disabilities.

Project Open Hand offers medically-tailored foods that help clients recover from illness and lead healthier lives. Project Open Hand services assists those with a wide variety of illnesses, ranging from AIDS/HIV to diabetes. Project Open Hand also provides warm meals for impoverished seniors and adults with disabilities fighting hunger. Project Open Hand’s strives to provide for the needy such  “that no one who is sick or elderly in our community will go without nutritious meals with love.”

Project Open Hand believes that “Food is Love” and that “Food is Medicine” for the community at large. Our staff here at Realize could not agree more. Giving back to the community has always been a major core value at Realize CPA.

On August 2nd, 2017, the team at Realize spent the day chopping fruits and vegetables, packaging individual meals, and serving those in need in the dining room at Project Open Hand’s San Francisco location.

“It was so lovely to interact face-to-face with the people we were helping; it really feels good to see your hard work directly impacting peoples’ lives,” said Adrienne VanSchoonhoven, Executive Assistant at Realize, CPA. “It was a great experience and I definitely plan on going back to volunteer more because I could see that I was making a difference in my community.”

Project Open Hand provides food and other necessities to people in San Francisco and Alameda County. To learn more about Project Open Hand and its volunteering opportunities, please visit  https://www.openhand.org/.
